Rijkswaterstaat expands Oudenrijn interchange and A9 in Amstelveen

Rijkswaterstaat is widening the connecting arc at the Oudenrijn interchange in the Utrecht region from a single lane to two lanes on the A12‑A2 corridor. The works, aimed at improving traffic flow and safety, involve weekend closures on 3‑6 July and 10‑13 July, with traffic redirected via the A12 and A27. The existing hard shoulder will be used as a temporary extra lane, after which the additional lane at the nearby Lunetten junction will be closed again.

In the Amsterdam metropolitan area, the agency is also progressing the deep‑level expansion of the A9 between Badhoevedorp and Holendrecht. Traffic has been shifted to the newly built northbound deck, allowing the start of construction on the southbound deck. This phase requires several long‑term closures, including the southern Stadshart ramp from late July 2026 to February 2027, the Ouderkerk exit from September to October 2026, and extended lane and one‑way traffic adjustments on Burgemeester Rijnderslaan. Diversions are in place and public transport is expected to experience limited disruption.

Both projects are part of a broader maintenance programme covering major routes such as the A12, A2, A30 and A27 in the Utrecht and Amsterdam regions.
