Rijkswaterstaat shuts A1 and Aasterbergerweg sections for summer road works in the Netherlands

The Dutch road authority Rijkswaterstaat will close the A1 highway between the Eemnes and Muiderberg interchanges from 3 July to 17 August. The westbound carriageway toward Amsterdam will be fully closed, while the eastbound lane toward Amersfoort remains open. Drivers are warned of 30–60 minutes extra travel time during peak hours and are advised to work from home, travel outside rush hour or use public transport. Detours are in place via the A28, A27, A12 and A2 from the north and via the A27 and A6 from the south, with local roads guiding traffic from Hilversum, Bussum and Naarden toward Amsterdam. Two entrance ramps in Naarden stay partially open. The works include resurfacing, replacement of guardrails, markers and signs, and additional recovery vehicles.

In a separate night operation, the Aasterbergerweg in Echt will be closed from 19:00 on 15 June until 06:00 on 16 June while Rijkswaterstaat installs lighting on a new viaduct for the A2 expansion (Vonderen‑Kerensheide). Access ramps remain open, but traffic cannot use the road directly, and a detour adds roughly 10 minutes to journeys. Signage directs drivers to alternative routes, and information is available via the national traffic hotline.
