Rimini announces new strategic plan for beach concessions and innovation
The administration of Rimini has announced a new strategic plan for its coastline, aiming to balance innovation with the preservation of traditional beach establishments. Mayor Jamil Sadegholvaad stated that the goal is to modernize the beach through increased environmental sensitivity and improved services, including the potential for macro-aggregations, pools, and terraces, while protecting the 'micro-aggregation' model of traditional beach clubs.
The plan seeks to resolve years of uncertainty regarding maritime concessions and public tenders, which the Mayor noted has hindered investment. The coastline is viewed as a vital link between recent major infrastructure projects, such as the Parco del Mare and the PSBO sewage and infrastructure plan.
Local business leaders, including Corrado Della Vista of Conflavoro Pmi Rimini, have called for clear rules and the end of regulatory uncertainty to encourage modernization. While supporting the need for change and competition, industry representatives emphasized the importance of recognizing the professional experience of historical operators and cautioned against large-scale aggregations that might not necessarily result in stronger enterprises.
