Pope Leo XIV to visit Rimini and San Marino for Meeting

Pope Leo XIV is scheduled to visit Rimini and San Marino on August 22 for the Meeting organized by Comunione e Liberazione. The visit includes a stop in San Marino to meet with authorities and a visit to the Basilica, followed by a trip to the Rimini Fair for the Meeting. The Pope will address participants at the Grand Auditorium and later meet with the sick, disabled, and impoverished at the Tempio Malatestiano.

To manage the expected influx of tens of thousands of visitors, authorities have implemented a major security plan. This includes strict restrictions in San Marino's historic center and the establishment of red and buffer zones in Rimini's Marina Centro. A mass will be held at the Rimini port, which is already sold out.

Preparations for the event are currently underway through a “Pre-Meeting” phase. Approximately 500 volunteers, many of whom are students from cities like Milan, Bologna, and Ferrara, are working to set up the 140,000 square meters of exhibition space. These volunteers are engaged in tasks such as assembling structures, painting panels, and installing electrical systems under the guidance of adult coordinators.
