Rimini: Two relatives caught driving under the influence during roadside check

A routine traffic stop by the Riccione State Police on the SS16 Adriatica highway near Rimini resulted in two consecutive drunk driving incidents involving members of the same family.

Officers stopped a truck driven by a 60-year-old local resident who tested positive for alcohol at approximately twice the legal limit. Following protocol, the driver was required to call a reliable person to take custody of the vehicle. He contacted his 53-year-old cousin to assist him.

Upon her arrival, the cousin was also subjected to a breathalyzer test, which revealed she was also driving under the influence, with a blood alcohol level slightly higher than that of her relative. Both individuals were reported to the judicial authorities. A third, sober relative was eventually called to recover both vehicles.
