Rio court blocks unauthorized betting platform run by Digital Dreams

Brazilian justice, following a public civil action filed by the 7th Public Prosecutor's Office of Rio de Janeiro, ordered the immediate suspension of Digital Dreams Soluções Tecnológicas em Sistemas e Entretenimentos Ltda.'s online sports‑betting platforms. The company had fraudulently presented documents to appear authorized by the state lottery (Loterj) and used Loterj’s visual identity to convey legitimacy, despite being excluded from the lottery’s credentialing process.

The ruling also mandated measures to dismantle the operation’s network, including identification of the owners of related web domains, blocking access to the investigated sites, prohibiting the creation of new unlicensed betting platforms, and stopping payment processing linked to the services. Authorities described the scheme as a coordinated effort involving websites, companies and individuals to maintain the illegal gambling activity.
