Rio de Janeiro and São Gonçalo Offer Free Culinary Training Courses
In Rio de Janeiro, the NGO Crescer, backed by the Instituto David Miranda, partnered with the SindRio union to launch a free kitchen‑assistant course for residents of vulnerable communities. Classes run from 2 June to 11 August at the SindRio headquarters, providing professional qualification and pathways to employment in the city’s hospitality sector.
In the neighboring municipality of São Gonçalo, the municipal Social Assistance Department, in collaboration with the federal Acessuas program, completed a graduation ceremony for more than 100 participants of free bakery and confectionery courses offered through the Padaria Escola initiative. The program taught bread‑making, pastry techniques and entrepreneurship skills, with officials pledging continued support to integrate graduates into the local job market.
