Rio de Janeiro authorities ground vehicles during bus terminal inspection

Authorities in Rio de Janeiro conducted an inspection at a bus terminal in the city center to ensure passenger safety and regulatory compliance. The operation involved several agencies, including the State Secretariat for Consumer Defense (SEDCON), PROCON-RJ, the State Department of Road Transport (DETRO), DETRAN-RJ, and the 5th Military Police Battalion.

The inspection resulted in five citations and the grounding of three vehicles. Identified irregularities included expired vehicle licensing dating back to 2023, malfunctioning or missing seatbelts, broken turnstiles, and inoperable elevators for people with disabilities. Additionally, officials noted the absence of required consumer protection documentation, such as the PROCON-RJ complaint book and the Consumer Defense Code.
