Rio de Janeiro extends childhood vaccination campaign to September 12
The Rio de Janeiro Municipal Health Secretariat has extended its multivaccination campaign for children and adolescents under the age of 15 until September 12. The initiative, which began on August 3, aims to increase vaccine coverage and ensure immunization schedules are up to date.
Since the start of the campaign, 167,000 doses have been administered. Health teams have evaluated over 107,000 vaccination records, finding that approximately 51% were already current. The most frequently administered vaccines include influenza, VIP (inactivated poliovirus vaccine), COVID-19, Pentavalent, and yellow fever.
Available vaccines include BCG, hepatitis A and B, rotavirus, pneumococcal, meningococcal C, varicella, DTP, and others. For adolescents aged 9 to 19, vaccines against HPV are available, while those aged 11 to 14 can receive the meningococcal ACWY vaccine and dengue immunization.
