Rio de Janeiro governor race: Eduardo Paes falls to 34% in new Prefab poll

A new Prefab Future poll ordered by the Republican Party shows incumbent Eduardo Paes (PSD) leading the Rio de Janeiro gubernatorial race with 33.9% of voter intentions, a decline from a February peak of 43% and his third consecutive drop. Douglas Ruas (PL) has risen to 10.3% and former governor Anthony Garotinho to 8.7%, while other candidates trail in single digits.

The survey highlights regional weaknesses for Paes, who polls below 20% in the state's North and Northwest. It also notes a gender gap for presidential hopeful Flávio Bolsonaro, who is about ten points weaker among female voters, and points out that Márcio Canella's support is concentrated in the Baixada Fluminense, especially in Belford Roxo and Nova Iguaçu. In terms of rejection, Garotinho leads with 20.9% and Paes follows at 15.6%.

Indecision remains high, with 23.4% of respondents undecided and 14.8% indicating they would cast a blank or null vote.
