Rio de Janeiro holds elections for 70 state deputy seats

The 2026 elections for state deputies in Rio de Janeiro are underway, with 70 seats available for the Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Alerj). In the state, there are 12,857,389 eligible voters.

The Democratic Labour Party (PDT) has registered 68 candidates for the state deputy position in the region. Results for the state deputy race are determined via a proportional system, which relies on the electoral coefficient to distribute seats among parties.

Voting for the first round takes place on October 4, from 8:00 to 17:00 Brasília time. Real-time updates on vote counting, including the percentage of ballot boxes processed and individual candidate performance, are being provided based on data from the Superior Electoral Court (TSE).
