Rio de Janeiro hosts two major contemporary art exhibitions

French artist Jérôme Poignard opened his exhibition “Cidade Líquidas – Rio, Paris, Café” at the Bar dos Descasados in the Santa Teresa MGallery hotel. The show, running from 9 July to 22 September 2026, features water‑inspired watercolor and acrylic works that blend urban scenes from Rio and Paris with coffee‑based pigments, and admission is free.

Gallery founder Pedro Nazar inaugurated the Rio headquarters of the Femaluma space in a historic townhouse in Horto, Jardim Botânico. The opening featured the group show “Entre,” presenting works by 17 artists from Brazil, Portugal, Mali and South Korea, and highlighted collaborations across visual arts, architecture and design.

Both events underline Rio de Janeiro’s growing role as a hub for contemporary art in Latin America.
