Rio de Janeiro launches security operation for elections

The Rio de Janeiro state government has established a specialized security operation to monitor the first round of elections. A command center has been set up at the Integrated Command and Control Center (CICC) in Cidade Nova to coordinate actions between state and federal security forces.

The operation utilizes an extensive technological network, including over 50,000 cameras equipped with facial recognition and license plate reading capabilities. This includes 33,900 cameras from the Integrated 190 System, 15,300 body cameras worn by military police, and 1,544 cameras installed in police vehicles.

Coordinated with the Regional Electoral Court (TRE-RJ), the task force includes representatives from the Military Police, Civil Police, Fire Department, and the Institutional Security Cabinet, alongside federal entities such as the Army, Federal Police, Federal Highway Police, Correios, and the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin). To ensure rapid response, a Military Police officer will be stationed in each of the state's 165 electoral zones to maintain direct communication with electoral judges.
