Rio de Janeiro and Rio Grande do Norte award medals to security officials

The Military Fire Department of Rio de Janeiro (CBMERJ) held a ceremony on 25 June at its Central Quarter to confer the Medal of the Order of Merit to state officials for services to the Corps. The event was led by the State Secretary of Civil Defense and CBMERJ commander‑general, Colonel BM Tarciso Salles. Honorees included State Secretary of the Civil House Flávio Willeman and Institutional Security Office chief Roberto Lisandro Leão, who received the Grand Officer grade, and Prosecutor Sérgio Pimentel Borges da Cunha, who received the Officer grade.

In Natal, the Governor of Rio Grande do Norte, Fátima Bezerra, presided over a celebration of the 192nd anniversary of the state Military Police on 25 June. Three medals – the Luiz Gonzaga Police Merit Medal, the Colonel Bento Manoel de Medeiros Professional Merit Medal, and the Tonheca Dantas Musical Merit Medal – were awarded to 192 individuals, including military and civilian personnel, representatives of the Brazilian Armed Forces and foreign sister‑unit members. The ceremony highlighted the long‑standing role of the police in public safety across the state.
