Rio de Janeiro celebrates Carnival culture through new exhibitions and music releases

Rio de Janeiro is advancing preparations for the 2027 Carnival season with several cultural initiatives. The Liga RJ has released the official samba album for the 'Série Ouro' division, featuring 17 tracks produced by Macaco Branco. This early release, occurring in October, aims to provide schools and the community more time for promotion.

In the Gamboa district, the Rio Carnaval Expo has opened at Cidade do Samba. This immersive exhibition, spanning 848 square meters and divided into 12 thematic sectors, explores the history and technical aspects of samba schools. The exhibit highlights Afro-Brazilian roots and includes a special tribute to the late carnival designer Rosa Magalhães. The exhibition runs until January 26, 2027.

Individual samba schools are also making progress. Grande Rio has begun preparing its musical identity for 2027, incorporating Ghanaian musical influences and introducing a new musical director, Rafael Prates, to integrate vocal and instrumental elements tied to their theme.
