Rio de Janeiro completes six major slope‑stabilization projects

The Rio city government, through the Fundação Geo‑Rio, finished six slope‑containment works across different neighborhoods, investing roughly R$ 7 million. The interventions were carried out in Alto da Boa Vista (R$ 759 k), Leblon (R$ 910 k), Lins de Vasconcelos (R$ 509 k) – which also added a senior‑citizen academy and improved street access – Rocha Miranda, São Cristóvão (R$ 882 k) and Penha, where the largest effort (R$ 3.8 million) was undertaken. By June the foundation had completed about 20 similar projects and dozens of other slope‑related actions, aiming to reduce landslide risk, improve drainage and increase safety for residents, pedestrians and motorists in vulnerable hillside areas.
