Rio de Janeiro reinstates Science Secretariat and launches joint tech alliance

The government of Rio de Janeiro state announced the recreation of the Secretaria de Estado de Ciência, Tecnologia e Inovação (SECTI) following a meeting with university and research leaders. A commission composed of the rectors of UENF, UERJ, UFF and UFRJ will draft a new institutional design and strategic guidelines within ten days.

During the Rio Innovation Week, three technology organizations—Assespro‑RJ, Riosoft and TI Rio—formalised a partnership to present a shared agenda to governments, universities and funding bodies. The alliance aims to strengthen competitiveness, foster innovation and coordinate policy on issues such as regulation, financing and talent development across the state’s digital economy.
