Brazilian samba schools prepare for Carnaval 2027

Various Brazilian samba schools are advancing preparations for the 2027 Carnival season.

Imperatriz da Paulicéia, competing in the Grupo de Acesso 2 division in São Paulo, has unveiled its theme: “Ideval, Dom Marcos e Paulistinha – Os Poetas da Paulicéia.” The parade will honor three composers who contributed to the history of samba in the region. The school's samba-enredo will be performed by singer Dom Junior.

Mocidade Alegre recently held a community event at its headquarters to record an official music video for its 2027 samba-enredo. The production involved various school sectors, including the choir, dancers, and the mestre-sala and porta-bandeira couples.

In Rio de Janeiro, Portela is holding its final competition to select the samba-enredo for its 2027 parade, which carries the theme “Ao mestre com carinho.”
