Rio Doce Valley project extends cooperative strengthening selection

The application deadline for the Coopera + Rio Doce project has been extended to November 11. The initiative seeks to select 30 cooperatives, associations, and informal productive groups located in the municipalities of the Rio Doce Basin in Minas Gerais to participate in economic strengthening actions.

Managed by the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV) in partnership with the Government of Minas Gerais, the project provides free technical and managerial assistance, training, and monitoring. To qualify, participants must have engaged in collective economic activities—such as production, processing, or shared services—within the last twelve months.

The project is funded by the Rio Doce Reparation Agreement, established following the 2015 Fundão dam failure at Samarco S.A. It aims to boost regional competitiveness and income generation through mentorship, equipment provision, and business networking.
