Rio Grande do Norte tourism revenue rises 24.3% in July

Tourism in Rio Grande do Norte experienced significant growth in July 2026. According to IBGE data, the volume of tourism activities in the state rose 9.9% compared to June, outperforming the national growth rate of 2.7%. On an annual basis, tourism activity in the state increased by 11.4% compared to July 2025, while Brazil saw a 1.6% decline.

Revenue from tourism in Rio Grande do Norte saw a substantial surge, increasing 24.3% compared to July 2025. Additionally, the state's service sector grew by 3.9% in July relative to the previous month, with an annual increase of 7.1%.

Data from Emprotur indicates that the average spending per tourist in the state rose by 38.4% between January and July, reaching R$ 620.40, up from R$ 446.80 during the same period last year. While spending by domestic Brazilian tourists grew by 6.8%, the overall higher average suggests a significant economic contribution from international or other visitor markets.
