Rio Grande do Sul allocates R$ 10 million for storm relief

Governor Eduardo Leite has announced the allocation of R$ 10 million to municipalities in the southern zone of Rio Grande do Sul following severe storms earlier this week. The funds are intended to cover urgent expenses for materials and equipment, such as the purchase of roof tiles for damaged residences.

The disbursement will be formalized through decrees prepared by the State Secretariat of Finance (Sefaz) and the State Secretariat of Planning, Governance, and Management (SPGG), with the first transfers expected to begin next week.

This measure follows a previous announcement on September 21, where the state government allocated up to R$ 20 million from the Rio Grande Plan Fund (Funrigs) to restore road and street accessibility damaged during storms in July and August. Under the Funrigs program, funding amounts are determined by municipal territory size, ranging from R$ 100,000 for smaller municipalities to R$ 550,000 for those exceeding 2,000 square kilometers. These funds are designated for cleaning services, mud removal, machine rentals, and drainage works.
