Rio Grande do Sul funds flood‑relief housing and free training programs

The Rio Grande do Sul state government, through the RS Qualificação Recomeçar program, will offer 45 free places in two courses – Drone Piloting and Legislation and Building Maintenance – at the Integrated Development and Innovation Center in Canela. The courses target unemployed or vulnerable residents registered in the CadÚnico, with priority for women, and include a scholarship of up to R$1,500 per student based on attendance and performance.

In a separate initiative, the state transferred R$2,016,000 to the municipalities of São Leopoldo and Sinimbu to finance social‑rental and solidarity‑stay assistance for families displaced by the 2024 floods. The funds cover R$400 per family for up to a year, supporting 840 households, while the municipalities must contribute at least 50% of the amount. Since 2024 the state has invested more than R$39 million in similar emergency housing programs.
