Rio Grande do Sul launches two large‑scale cultural festivals

The city of Carlos Barbosa in Brazil has opened the 34th FestiQueijo, a five‑week gastronomic festival celebrating local cheese traditions. Organisers report advance sales of 19,000 tickets covering more than 350 cities, and the event will feature 19 exhibitors, 65 musical performances and dozens of cheese‑based dishes over five weekends.

At the same time, Porto Alegre will host the “Nau para a Sbørnia” celebration on 25 July, transforming a historic neoclassical building into a ship‑like set for a night of music, theatre, themed drinks and food inspired by the fictional Republic of Sbørnia. The program includes live performances, projections of the animated film *Até que a Sbørnia nos Separe* and a menu of quirky dishes and cocktails.

Both events aim to draw visitors from across Brazil and highlight the region’s vibrant cultural scene.
