Rio police operation survivor Douglas da Silva details shooting and injuries

On 28 October 2025, police forces launched Operation Contenção in Rio de Janeiro's Alemão and Penha complexes, killing 117 people and losing five officers. Douglas Christian da Silva, 31, was on his way to deliver weight‑loss products when four military police officers opened fire on his vehicle, striking him in the face and causing severe wounds to his head, arms, hands and abdomen.
