Brazil expands election accessibility for voters with disabilities

Brazil's Electoral Justice is implementing accessibility measures for the 2026 elections, primarily through the ‘Seu Voto Importa’ program. This initiative provides free, adapted, door-to-door transportation for voters with disabilities or reduced mobility. Requests for the first round must be submitted by September 14, 2026, through online forms or local electoral offices. Specific regions, including Palmas, Atibaia, Ubatuba, and Ceará, have highlighted the availability of this service to ensure voters can reach polling stations safely.

Beyond transportation, the Brazilian Senate is debating ways to ensure full democratic inclusion for people with disabilities, addressing infrastructure and equipment challenges. The electoral process is overseen by several entities, including the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), Regional Electoral Courts (TREs), and the Public Electoral Ministry (MPE), alongside political parties and accredited private organizations.

Logistical preparations are also underway to manage the distribution of approximately 560,000 electronic voting machines across the country. Meanwhile, political parties and candidates are facing deadlines to submit partial campaign financial reports via the Conta+JE platform.
