Rio Preto knife attack injures three, suspect arrested

A 61‑year‑old man was arrested after a knife attack in the Solidariedade neighbourhood of Rio Preto, Brazil, left three people injured. The suspect returned to the scene of a dispute with his ex‑partner, striking the woman, a friend who tried to intervene, and the woman’s son. The victims – a 54‑year‑old woman, a 45‑year‑old friend, and a 25‑year‑old man – were treated for stab wounds and other injuries and remained in stable condition.

Police said the attacker appeared intoxicated, was subdued by bystanders, and was taken into custody. The knife was recovered, and the suspect was charged with bodily injury and placed in preventive detention pending further investigation.
