Rio Preto launches signage for app‑rides and taxis

The municipality of Rio Preto, Brazil, inaugurated its first passenger pick‑up and drop‑off totems on 22 June. Two devices mark app‑based ride locations and a third identifies a taxi stand, all placed in front of the city’s bus terminal on Pedro Amaral street.

Mayor Coronel Fábio Candido said the initiative aims to improve urban mobility, reduce confusion at high‑traffic points and prevent illegal parking. The signs direct drivers and passengers to designated quick‑stop zones, with the municipal guard and state police tasked with enforcement and possible fines for violations.

The program will expand to the state airport, several shopping centers and the Alberto Bertelli Lucatto exhibition hall, where temporary totems will guide traffic during large events.
