Several tragic incidents involving infants and children have triggered legal investigations across South America.

In Malvinas Argentinas, Argentina, a five-month-old baby named Emma Eluney Cabral died after being attacked by a pitbull while sleeping. The animal was seized by authorities and placed under observation.

In Argentina, medical negligence is being investigated in multiple cases. In Río Grande, authorities ordered the exhumation of 3-year-old Tayron Lionel Villalba to determine the cause of death following alleged inadequate hospital care. Similarly, an autopsy in another case confirmed that Ayelén Ríos suffered a placental detachment that led to oxygen deprivation, prompting a probe into delays at the Materno Infantil Hospital.

In Lanús, Argentina, a baby died from gunshot wounds in a domestic incident that resulted in the arrest of the child's uncle. Investigators are still searching for the weapon.
