Riocentro to Host 81st Brazilian Cardiology Congress in October

The Riocentro convention center in Rio de Janeiro will host the 81st Brazilian Congress of Cardiology from October 8‑10. Organised by the Brazilian Society of Cardiology and the World Heart Federation, the three‑day event is expected to attract around 16,000 participants, including cardiologists, researchers, and health professionals from Brazil and abroad.

Key speakers confirmed include SBC President Sergio Tavares Montenegro, Congress President Dr. Raul Dias dos Santos Filho, World Heart Federation President Jagat Narula, Harvard’s Pradeep Natarajan, University of Glasgow’s John McMurray and representatives from the Interamerican Society of Cardiology. Dr. Santos Filho said, “Este será um momento ímpar para promover o intercâmbio científico, valorizar a produção nacional e fortalecer as conexões entre pesquisadores, clínicos e sociedades de todo o mundo.”

Local officials note the congress will boost Rio’s tourism and hospitality sectors, generating demand for hotels, restaurants and event‑service providers and reinforcing the city’s reputation as a venue for large scientific gatherings.
