Riot Games launches Riftbound TCG in South Korea
Riot Games has officially launched Riftbound, its first physical trading card game (TCG) based on the League of Legends universe, in the South Korean market. During a showcase in Seoul, developers highlighted that the game is designed as an independent offline experience, utilizing unique rules and mechanics that reflect champion characteristics rather than a direct digital translation.
To celebrate the Korean launch, Riot is offering exclusive content, including a special ‘Ahri Gumiho Overnumber Card’ featuring artwork inspired by traditional Korean clothing. The initial product lineup includes the ‘Origin’ set, champion decks featuring Jinx, Lee Sin, and Viktor, and a four-player starter box titled ‘Battleground of Proof’.
Riot Games aims to synchronize its global release schedules by 2028, ensuring players worldwide compete in the same environment. The company also announced a competitive roadmap for South Korea, including weekly tournaments and a large-scale ‘Korea Major’ event scheduled for December 5–6, which expects over 500 participants.
