Ripple integrates XRP and RLUSD into Stripe and Tempo payment protocols

Ripple has released version 1.1 of its XRPL AI Starter Kit, integrating support for the Machine Payments Protocol (MPP) and the Open Wallet Standard (OWS). The MPP, co-authored by Stripe and the payments blockchain Tempo, enables machine-to-machine payments over HTTP, allowing autonomous AI agents to pay for data, computing power, and cloud services without human intervention.

The update allows developers to utilize XRP and Ripple’s dollar-pegged stablecoin, RLUSD, for agent-based services. The kit supports two payment modes: one-off transactions settling in three to five seconds with minimal fees, and XRPL Payment Channels, which allow agents to fund a channel upfront and use signed off-chain vouchers for continuous service usage.

Additionally, the kit incorporates the Open Wallet Standard to provide a shared method for managing wallets across multiple blockchains. Jazzi Cooper, head of product at RippleX, stated the objective is to ensure XRP and RLUSD are “first-class options wherever developers are building.” The integration is currently in beta.
