Overview

Ripple has introduced the XRPL AI Starter Kit, a developer toolkit designed to facilitate autonomous payments by artificial intelligence agents using XRP and the RLUSD dollar-pegged stablecoin.

The toolkit integrates with the Machine Payments Protocol (MPP), an open standard co-authored by Stripe and the payments blockchain Tempo. This integration enables machine-to-machine payments over HTTP, allowing AI agents to pay for services like computing power, data, and cloud services without human intervention. Through the MPP ‘sessions’ primitive, agents can authorize spending limits upfront to stream continuous micropayments or use signed off-chain vouchers.

Additionally, the kit incorporates the Open Wallet Standard to allow for wallet management across multiple blockchains. Ripple is a Premier Member of the x402 Foundation, an initiative alongside entities such as Coinbase, Circle, and American Express, aimed at providing “first-class options wherever developers are building” agentic applications within the fintech ecosystem.
