Rising Summer Vacation Costs Hit Families in Mexico and Spain

In Mexico, the consumer‑protection agency Profeco released a price comparison of water parks and aquatic centers across nine states. The analysis found entry fees ranging from 170 pesos for the Te‑Pathé Aquatic Park in Hidalgo (online purchase) to 650 pesos at El Rollo in Morelos on weekends, a difference of 570 pesos. The Parque Acuático Ixtapan in the State of Mexico costs 395 pesos for an adult ticket, placing it among the higher‑priced venues.

In Spain, a new consumer‑habits study shows that 78 % of households have altered their summer‑vacation budgets due to rising prices. The average planned spend is €1,389, about 3.6 % higher than the previous year, with a typical stay of 11 days. Most of the budget goes to accommodation (€582), followed by leisure and dining (€309), transport (€281) and other expenses (€218). Lower‑income families and younger adults are cutting back the most, while many respondents plan to use savings or seek flexible financing options for their trips.
