Superclásico 2026: Boca Juniors and River Plate prepare for clash

Boca Juniors and River Plate are set to face each other in the Superclásico on Sunday, November 1, at La Bombonera. Both teams enter the match following recent victories in the Torneo Clausura 2026.

Boca Juniors secured a 1-0 win against Independiente with a late goal by Jagger Herrera. The team enters the derby in good physical condition, with captain Leandro Paredes expected to be available despite recent injury concerns. Boca currently leads the annual table.

River Plate arrives after a 1-0 victory over Racing, courtesy of a goal by Lautaro Rivero. While the win provides momentum, head coach Leonardo Ponzio faces fitness doubts regarding Aníbal Moreno and Sebastián Driussi, both of whom have reported lumbar discomfort. Moreno's medical studies have ruled out a muscle tear, though his participation remains uncertain.

The match carries significant implications for the playoff standings and the annual championship race.
