River Plate midfield injury concerns

Overview

River Plate continues to manage significant personnel challenges in the midfield ahead of the Superclásico against Boca Juniors at La Bombonera.

Recent medical updates provide some clarity regarding Aníbal Moreno; while he continues to deal with lumbar discomfort, medical studies have officially ruled out a muscle tear in his calf. Forward Sebastián Driussi, who has been managing lumbar pain, has since returned to normal training. However, Fausto Vera remains sidelined due to a muscle tear.

In response to these absences, head coach Leonardo Ponzio has been integrating youth prospect Lucas Silva into tactical training to prepare for the high-pressure environment.

On the opposing side, Boca Juniors enters the match following a victory against Independiente. While defender Lautaro Blanco is expected to return to the starting lineup, the club is closely monitoring the physical evolution of captain Leandro Paredes, who recently completed a match despite a muscle tear.
