Rivers State Assembly orders arrest of PAMO University VC

The Rivers State House of Assembly has issued an arrest warrant for the Vice-Chancellor of PAMO University of Medical Sciences in Port Harcourt. The order follows the institution's failure to comply with invitations from an Ad Hoc House Committee investigating the disbursement of scholarship funds by the state government since 2017.

The investigation concerns several billion naira in scholarship funds provided to the university. During a plenary session presided over by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, the Assembly reviewed a report from the committee, which is led by Deputy Speaker Dumle Maol.

In addition to the arrest order, the Assembly has urged the Rivers State Government to establish a committee to recover all unaccounted funds currently held by PAMO University. The House recommended that these recovered funds be deposited into the state’s Consolidated Revenue Account.
