Rivers State commissions 105-bed Omoku Zonal Hospital

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has commissioned the remodeled and fully furnished 105-bed Omoku Zonal Hospital in the Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area. The three-storey facility is designed to provide secondary healthcare services to residents of Omoku and surrounding communities, including Egbema, Ndoni, and Ahoada.

The new hospital aims to reduce the necessity for residents in the Rivers West Senatorial District to travel to Port Harcourt for specialist medical treatment, thereby easing pressure on tertiary hospitals and improving timely access to care. During the inauguration, Governor Fubara emphasized that healthcare is a fundamental government responsibility and urged local residents, traditional rulers, and youths to protect the facility and its equipment from vandalism and theft, noting Omoku's importance as an oil and gas hub.

The Oba of Ogbaland, Nwachuku Obi III, participated in the inauguration, commending the administration for bringing development to an area he described as previously neglected.
