Rivers State Governor commissions hospital and runway projects

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has commissioned several infrastructure projects, including a rehabilitated Air Force base runway in Port Harcourt and an upgraded Neuropsychiatric Hospital in Rumuigbo.

During the commissioning of the Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Fubara revealed that the facility had previously been used as a center for drug trafficking, where drugs were supplied to inmates undergoing rehabilitation. To address this, the administration has fenced the premises and restricted access through designated gates. The upgraded hospital now features a 100-bed rehabilitation center to address mental health and substance abuse challenges.

Fubara also emphasized the link between regional and national security, noting that Rivers State is a strategic hub for Nigeria’s oil and gas industry. He praised President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening national security institutions, stating that the security of Rivers State is inseparable from the security of the nation.
