Rivers State provides N200,000 cash relief to flood victims

The Rivers State government has initiated direct cash transfers of N200,000 to identified flood victims to provide immediate relief. Deputy Governor Prof Ngozi Odu announced that these funds are being sent directly to the personal bank accounts of affected families to prevent middleman interference and ensure aid reaches intended beneficiaries.

In addition to financial assistance, the state is distributing food and non-food items via trucks to various Local Government Areas, with increased support for high-risk zones. To address the root causes of the flooding, the government is also working on clearing waterways and blocked drainages to mitigate rising water levels in hard-hit areas like Obio/Akpor and Port Harcourt City.
