Rize hosts 5K community run ahead of UTMB by Kaçkar event

A 5‑kilometre community run was held in Rize’s Çay Çarşısı district, organized by the Youth and Sports Ministry, the Rize Governor’s Office and the Kaçkar by UTMB organizers. Deputy governors Abdullah Kurt, Metin Eyyüpkoca and Mustafa Batuhan Alpboğa, district governor Gizem Çiçek and mayor Ömer Altun attended, along with local athletes and residents. Participants warmed up together before completing the short course, and Deputy Governor Kurt highlighted the importance of running with the public, describing the event as “high‑energy and beautiful.” The race served as a promotional activity for the upcoming Kaçkar by UTMB ultramarathon scheduled for 11‑13 September, with officials urging athletes and nature lovers to register. Ultrarunner Beyza Güzel, a previous winner of the 20‑km UTMB race, also took part and praised the local terrain.
