RMAFC completes revenue allocation and remuneration reviews

The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has completed a comprehensive review of Nigeria’s revenue allocation formula and the remuneration for political, public, and judicial office holders. Chairman Dr. Mohammed Bello Shehu announced that these proposals have reached advanced stages and are awaiting consideration by relevant authorities.

Regarding remuneration, the commission has concluded its review for judicial office holders, resulting in the enactment of the Judicial Office Holders (Salaries and Allowances) Act, 2025. The review for executive and legislative office holders is also at an advanced stage, with an expected executive bill for the Political and Public Office Holders (Salaries and Allowances) Act, 2026 to be transmitted to the National Assembly.

The revenue allocation review aimed to create a more equitable and sustainable framework across the three tiers of government, accounting for current economic realities. Additionally, the RMAFC has launched a Strategic Communications and Institutional Reform Initiative to increase transparency and public trust in its fiscal governance and monitoring roles.
