Şırnak hosts first stage of TEKNOFEST Drone Championship

The first stage of the TEKNOFEST Drone Championship has commenced in Şırnak, marking the beginning of the TEKNOFEST Southeast series. The event is organized by the Ministry of Industry and Technology, the T3 Foundation, and STM.

Thirty-two licensed athletes from 11 different provinces participated in the races held at the Şırnak City Stadium. The competition featured FPV (First Person View) racing drones and included a night stage, which was a first for the championship in Turkey.

Selçuk Bayraktar, Chairman of the TEKNOFEST Board of Directors, attended the event and highlighted Şırnak's historical significance in Turkey's technological development, noting that much of the work for the Bayraktar Mini UAV was conducted in the province in 2006. He emphasized that Şırnak ranks among the top 10 provinces in Turkey for technology competition applications, with approximately 18,000 young people applying this year and 22 semi-finalist teams emerging from the region.

The TEKNOFEST Southeast series will continue with a central event in Şanlıurfa from September 30 to October 4, spanning several other provinces including Diyarbakır, Siirt, Batman, Gaziantep, Mardin, and Adıyaman.
