Overview

The TEKNOFEST 2026 technology festival continues to showcase advancements in maritime, quantum, and mobility sectors across Turkey. Regional competitions in Diyarbakır and Adıyaman have highlighted significant academic and technical achievements. In Diyarbakır, İzmir Fen Lisesi secured second place in Turkey for a project utilizing deep reinforcement learning for forest fire management. Meanwhile, in Adıyaman, the Advanced Autonomous Systems Design and Operation Competition, coordinated by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ), involves 30 teams developing autonomous UAV and UGV coordination for simulated post-disaster scenarios.

Sinop University has also emerged as a major winner, securing four first-place finishes in the nuclear energy and robotics categories. Notable projects include the ‘Turkstar 40’ modular reactor system, designed for energy production and Black Sea water desalination, and an armored robotic system for high-radiation environments. Following these successes, the university was awarded a 15 million TL Academic Incentive Prize. Other honors were granted to the Nuclei-HGL and SynCore teams for reactor and energy cycle designs, while the ATOMRİS team secured third place in the modular reactor conceptual design category.

Preparations for TEKNOFEST Southeast at Şanlıurfa GAP Airport, scheduled for September 30 to October 4, are nearing completion. The event is expected to attract over one million visitors.
