TEKNOFEST drone championship in Şırnak

Overview

The first stage of the TEKNOFEST Southeast drone championship concluded on August 8–9, 2026, at the Şırnak City Stadium. Organized by the Ministry of Industry and Technology, the T3 Foundation, and STM, the competition featured 32 licensed athletes from 11 different provinces competing in FPV (First Person View) drone races.

A notable feature of this stage was the inclusion of a night stage, marking the first time such a segment has been held in a Turkish drone championship.

TEKNOFEST Chairman Selçuk Bayraktar attended the event, noting Şırnak's historical relevance to Turkey's unmanned aerial vehicle development, specifically citing the province's role in the 2006 development of the Bayraktar Mini UAV. He highlighted significant local interest, stating that Şırnak ranks among the top ten provinces in Turkey for technology competition applications, with approximately 18,000 young people applying this year and 22 semi-finalist teams emerging from the region.

The TEKNOFEST Southeast series is scheduled to continue with a central event in Şanlıurfa from September 30 to October 4, involving several other provinces including Diyarbakır, Siirt, Batman, Gaziantep, Mardin, and Adıyaman.
