Río Grande and Ciudad Juan Bosch launch animal health initiatives

Public health initiatives regarding animal welfare and disease prevention are underway in Río Grande, Argentina, and Ciudad Juan Bosch, Dominican Republic.

In Río Grande, the municipality is organizing the ‘Patitas Comunitarias’ event at Casa de Jóvenes. The program includes pet registration, microchipping, responsible adoption drives, and educational talks on pet ownership. The initiative also features artistic activities and the distribution of pet beds made by local workshop participants.

Additionally, veterinary services in Río Grande have issued warnings regarding canine distemper, emphasizing the importance of up-to-date vaccination schedules to prevent the highly contagious viral disease.

In Ciudad Juan Bosch, Dominican Republic, the Ministry of Public Health, through the Center for Prevention and Control of Vector-Borne and Zoonotic Diseases (Cecovez), is conducting a free rabies vaccination campaign for dogs and cats. The drive aims to increase vaccination coverage and reduce the risk of rabies transmission to humans.
