Río Grande Holds 5th Environmental Expo for World Environment Day

On June 5, 2026, the municipality of Río Grande organized its fifth Environmental Expo at the Centro Cultural Alem (Av. Belgrano 920). The free public event ran from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., offering informational stands, workshops and talks on topics such as urban tree planting, the “phantom forests” submarine ecosystem, fuel production from plastics, agroecology, and recycling incentives. Participants included municipal agencies, universities, private recycling firms, foundations and NGOs, all aimed at strengthening environmental awareness and sustainable practices among residents. A dedicated workshop for secondary‑school students highlighted the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, encouraging youth engagement with the global environmental agenda.
