Río Negro and Corrientes provinces secure funding for major road projects

The government of Río Negro province obtained definitive financing to upgrade Routes 6 and 8 and began negotiations to transfer national Routes 22 and 151 to provincial control. Governor Alberto Weretilneck led a meeting with officials from public works, finance and the provincial road agency to set the legal, technical and funding framework needed for the improvements, which are seen as vital for regional commerce and connectivity. The province also launched a digital security system that uses AI‑driven license‑plate recognition cameras to monitor highway access and alert emergency services.

In Corrientes, Governor Juan Pablo Valdés met with Interior Minister Diego Santilli and signed a commitment to reactivate construction on the Autovía of National Route 12. Work is slated to restart in late June with full pavement and safety upgrades expected by early July, addressing a backlog caused by budget constraints. Valdés also confirmed provincial backing for a national reform to eliminate the PASO primary elections, describing them as an unnecessary expense.

Both provinces are seeking to accelerate infrastructure projects while aligning with the national government's political agenda.
