Río Negro implements AI and digital identity systems

The province of Río Negro is implementing advanced technological tools to modernize public security and state services. Through the Ministry of Security and Justice, the province has deployed the ‘Anillo Digital’ system, which utilizes 150 automated license plate readers integrated with artificial intelligence. This system cross-references data with national and provincial databases containing approximately 600,000 records of stolen vehicles. In 2026, this technology has already enabled the detection and recovery of nearly 130 vehicles, a significant increase from the previous average of 10 to 15 recoveries per year.

Parallel to security enhancements, the provincial government, under Governor Alberto Weretilneck, is advancing a digital state initiative focused on data protection and identity management. The ‘Soy Río Negro’ application introduces the ‘Identidad Digital Rionegrina,’ allowing citizens to validate their identity once via RENAPER to access various provincial services without repeatedly submitting documentation. This digital transformation includes the ‘Río Bot 2.0’ virtual assistant, designed to simplify administrative procedures while maintaining strict privacy and security protocols for citizen data.
