Road America hosts IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship endurance round
The iconic Road America circuit in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin hosted the fourth round of the Michelin Endurance Cup, a pivotal leg of the 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The six‑hour race saw teams battling for crucial points ahead of the season finale at Road Atlanta.
In the Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) class, Laurin Heinrich led the standings with 40 points, closely followed by the No. 7 Porsche entry of Felipe Nasr and Julien Andlauer. Cadillac Whelen’s No. 31 Cadillac was nine points back. In LMP2, AORacing’s No. 99 held a two‑point edge over CrowdStrike’s No. 04, while Paul Miller Racing commanded a nine‑point lead in GTD Pro. The GTD class remained tightly packed.
Drivers highlighted Road America’s unforgiving layout, urging cooperation to avoid incidents. Jack Aitken of Cadillac emphasized the track’s harshness, and Aaron Telitz expressed optimism for a cleaner race compared with previous sprint events.
