Road closures in Werne and Neustadt, Germany for major street renovations

The town of Werne will close Mühlenstraße from 15 June to 3 July while renewing about 400 metres of bicycle and footpath. The works replace asphalt and paving slabs, cost roughly €200,000 and a detour has been signed for through traffic, although local residents and agricultural traffic can still reach the area.

In the neighbouring district, the municipality of Neustadt will fully block the Moorstraße on 15 July as part of a broader road‑sanitisation project. The closure affects the stretch of Kreisstraße 347 connecting Neustadt and Mardorf and is expected to divert roughly 2,500–3,000 vehicles per day. The renovation, funded 60 % by the state, costs about €914,000 and will include new steel‑reinforced structures. Local officials anticipate increased traffic on nearby routes and have discussed additional safety measures such as reduced speeds and pedestrian signals.
