Road damage in Mexican towns hampers traffic and local commerce
Residents of the eastern metropolitan area of San Luis have complained that a severely deteriorated stretch of the road to Rioverde, worsened by heavy truck traffic and rain, has turned into deep potholes and mud, posing risks to motorists, especially motorcyclists. They have urged state authorities to repave the section and complete a planned bridge.
In Guadalajara's Analco neighborhood, a large sinkhole that appeared after recent rains prompted the deployment of over 30 workers to repair the site. Local merchants report a drop of more than 60 % in sales due to the delayed infrastructure work and flooding of their stores, and they call for faster reconstruction and better accessibility for people with disabilities.
